Catch previous episodes of the Round Six Podcast over on YouTube! We’ve been loading the channel with all sorts of great content, and the entire podcast episode archive is no exception. This episode with Scott Sullivan is one of our all-time fan favorites, and is loaded with great history and even a tale of the Street Machine of the Year award that you won’t hear anywhere else!
If you’re a NASCAR fan, you’re probably as nuts about the night race at Bristol as we are. There’s just something about a big time race under the lights that makes it so much better than daytime racing. It’s 162,000 fans and 43 cars inside a bullring. Perhaps it’s the sparks generated when the cars bottom out, or the flames that shoot out of the exhaust pipes when they enter the corners. Whatever it is, we can’t get enough of it. Alex and Brian sit and talk with the “illuminati” of Bristol Motor Speedway, and become enlightened themselves.
The Gearheads offer their expanded thoughts and opinions on the topic of the Street Machine of the Year award, as well as the state of the hobby in general. Building from the eighth episode of the podcast, it’s a brief yet insightful look on where we are, and where the whole thing is headed, street machine-wise.
The guys go all benchracing session, and discuss the Street Machine of the Year award and the current state of staleness and apathy with regard to high-end builds, Pro-Touring, and the age of mega-budget cars that all seem to disappear within a year of being finished. And in grand Round Six fashion, they engineer a constructive solution to the problem. And talk tacos.
In Episode Seven, we sat down with documentarian Adam Kontras, and talked DeLorean DMC-12’s, time machines, Back to the Future movie cars, LS engine swaps, family drama, Shakesperian betrayal… and Eric’s eating habits.
All of this as Adam’s documentary, Fastest DeLorean in the World hits Amazon Prime Video, sharing fortuitous timing with another story about a kid from Columbus Ohio who happens to race a DeLorean, “Ready Player One.” Talk about things being delicately interconnected.
In Episode Six, the Gearheads lay a coat of color commentary over the fine art of high-end finishes with paint master Mick Jenkins, who has sprayed and finished more high-end cars than you could possibly wave a push broom at. Hear some great stories, share a few laughs, and feel free to drop a new word into your vocabulary. You’re welcome.
In Episode Five, we are graced with the presence of Suzy Bauter, who was the talk of the 2017 SEMA Show with her killer Rambler wagon. A rich history of cool cars, hot rodding and autocross are but the tip of the iceberg when it comes to this PR and Social Media Marketing madwoman. It all goes delightfully sideways, but finds some incredible traction in a discussion about surfboards for incredibly large people. Truly a fun time, and a great look into the exciting sport of Autocross. All of this, and Brian sings, too!
Our good friends over at Cotati Speed Shop have been banging away at this killer 1968 All Wheel Drive Camaro project, and it can be seen this weekend in Pomona at the Grand National Roadster Show. Hear this bad-boy roar from the comfort of your chair…
